Vijay Sethupathi, renowned for his versatility, is one of the most accomplished actors in the Indian film industry, with over 50 films to his name, many of which have been highly successful. His journey to stardom began with his first lead role in Seenu Ramasamy's Thenmerku Paruvakatru (2010), followed by his first major hit, Pizza (2012). Initially starting out as a background actor, Vijay Sethupathi has carved a niche for himself through unconventional roles, portraying protagonists, antagonists, and unique characters alike, ultimately establishing himself as a star who holds a distinct place in Indian cinema.
With more than 16 years of experience, he has become one of the most sought-after actors across Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and other regional film industries. In addition to his film career, he has also ventured into web series, anthologies, and short films, further showcasing his immense talent and range.
Vijay Sethupathi joined the Chennai based theatre group “Koothupattarai”as an accountant and acting training, where had the opportunity to observe the actors from close quarters. In the beginnings he got chance to act as a background Actor, particularly playing the role of the Lead Character's friend in a few Films. His first lead role was in Seenu Ramasamy's “Thenmerku Paruvakaatru” (2010).
2012 marked as a turning point in Sethupathi's career, all his three releases were both Critically and Commercially Successes, resulting in a rise in his popularity. In the films “Pizza” and “Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom”, he proved his versatility and acumen to handle any role by carrying the entire movie on his shoulders. In the year 2016 he was named as “Makkal Selvan” (People’s Man) while Filming for the film “Dharma Durai” which was also a block buster in his career.

Vijay Sethupathi has won many awards in the past consecutive years such as the 2012 Tamilnadu state film award for best villain for the movie Sundarapandian, 2012 SIIMA awards for best actor for the movie Pizza, 2013 8th Vijay awards for best actor for the movie Soodhu Kavvum and many more.
